Each day, 45,000 undergraduates come to our campuses, classrooms, and laboratories. They are tomorrow's leaders. But they need your help today.
At the U of M, students are following their passions and finding the path that will lead them toward a lifetime of fulfillment. Helping these talented students is one of the University's top priorities. For many, the opportunity for a world-class education would not exist without the generosity of donors who have made gifts to support scholarships.
"The scholarship definitely takes a weight off my shoulders. Because of it, I can spend less time working, trying to find jobs, and trying to pay rent, and spend more time on school work and exploring opportunities for my future." —Sabrina, Discovery Scholar majoring in environmental science, policy, and management
In addition to defraying the cost of tuition, scholarships provide other benefits to a student's experience:
- Incentive to make the most of college and graduate on time.
- Freedom to explore interests beyond the classroom.
- A more solid financial footing upon graduation, with fewer or no loans to pay back.
Your gifts change lives
Thanks to gifts of all sizes from generous alumni and friends, the University of Minnesota’s Discovery Scholars program provides scholarships to undergraduates based on academic merit and financial need. Studying everything from agriculture to zoology, Discovery Scholars exemplify the U’s drive to discover and the significant impact your gift can have.
Bentson Scholarship Challenge
Through the Bentson Scholarship Challenge, announced on February 14, 2020, your donation of $50,000 or more will be invested in an endowment to make college possible for Pell-eligible undergraduates. While your endowment grows, the Bentson Foundation will make additional funds available immediately to help students from under-resourced backgrounds cover the full cost of college.
