Online fundraising for events

The University has two primary websites for online fundraising, makingagift.umn.edu for everyday giving and URaiseMN for crowdfunding projects and event-related fundraising. We encourage all groups fundraising for a U of M cause to be explicit about which U of M cause they’re fundraising for and to link directly to our giving pages, if they have a website or online presence of any kind for their activities.

Living in the Twin Cities

There’s no doubt about it: living in the Twin Cities makes us happy. Minnesota was ranked as the second happiest state in the nation in 2016, and Minneapolis nabbed the number three spot in a recent list of the top 100 “happiest healthiest” cities. With an excellent K-12 education system, a thriving arts community, and trails and parks where we enjoy year-round outdoor fun, it’s no wonder we’re glad to live and work here. Join us!

Careers

The University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) offers you a chance to make a difference by connecting our generous donors with a range of research, education, and outreach initiatives.

Administrative fees

Each fund held by the Foundation is assessed a small annual administrative fee to help cover the cost of services such as gift processing and receipting, credit card fees, fund administration, cash management, and others.

The UMF Board of Trustees establishes fee policies with the objective of keeping fees low to reflect a strong commitment to administrative efficiency. The current annual fee on endowment funds is 0.8% of the fund’s market value. For quasi-endowments, the annual fee is 1.5% of the fund’s market value.

Yearly giving results

2023 giving results

The following figures summarize giving to the University of Minnesota in fiscal year 2023, which ran from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. These figures are reported by the University of Minnesota Foundation, which raises and manages gifts to the U of M.

Naming opportunities

Naming opportunities are offered to honor the generous support of individuals and organizations that have contributed in a significant way to the advancement of the University.

Gifts to the University may be named in honor of the donor or another individual or organization, and memorial gifts also may be named. Endowment funds may be named according to University policies.
