Event support

The University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) is grateful to the many individuals and organizations who organize events to support causes at the University of Minnesota. Your fundraiser can help support many crucial University needs. Upon event approval, there are a number of tools and resources available to help make your event a success.

The University of Minnesota Foundation may assist with:

  • Sending a branded confirmation letter acknowledging the intent of the event organizer to raise funds for the benefit of the University of Minnesota
  • Assisting in designating event proceeds to a specific University school, program, or fund
  • Providing use of the U’s crowdfunding website, allowing supporters to fundraise online
  • Sharing U of M logo for event beneficiary promotion
  • Event promotion through UMF social media platforms
  • Offering existing U of M promotional and educational materials to assist in communicating with supporters about the applicable U of M fundraising cause
  • Representing the University through fundraising staff attendance
  • Issuing a gift receipt to event organizer and/or donors who make an outright gift to UMF in compliance with U of M financial considerations
  • Assist in designating event proceeds to a specific University unit, program, fund, etc. (See financial guidelines.)

Event supporters are responsible for:

  • Assuming event liability
  • Securing event funding, permits, licenses, and insurance coverage
  • Soliciting sponsors
  • Generating invitation lists
  • Providing and managing event registration
  • Organizing auctions and volunteers
  • Processing event expenses
  • Operating within U of M branding guidelines
